How much does it cost to get a lawyer to get a FID? I've been trying to set up an appointment with my local police for 3 months. One guy does them and he never returns calls respond to emails etc... I don't know if this is b/c he is a gov't worker or they just try not to issue FID. I think you are better off having an illegal gun and saving your life with time served for illegal possession then to be dead with no gun. I heard that when you do the morphotrack it takes all consumer affairs customers first like doctors and nurses licences and FID is on the bottom of the list.

Thought you would be interested to know that the police dept in my town (Raritan Township, Hunterdon County) were very helpful, courteous, and clear as I pursued the my FID. I followed the process to the letter, and had my permit to purchase (including HG) about a week after submitting the final paperwork. From fingerprints to FID was a about one month (and would have been faster if not for my busy schedule). In other states that may be laughable, but from the horror stories I hear this was pretty painless. At least in this part of the state, our 2nd amendment seems to be honored. The irony: it seems harder to find a reputable place to purchase within 50 miles than it was getting the FID!
